A long-awaited public transport upgrade is finally becoming reality on the Costa Blanca. From 1 February 2026, a new direct bus line will connect Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport with several key towns in the Vega Baja region, offering a cheaper and more convenient alternative to taxis and private transfers.
🚌 Which towns are included?
The new route will serve the following locations:
- Almoradí
- Formentera del Segura
- Rojales
- Guardamar del Segura
- La Marina
This is particularly good news for residents, expats, and tourists staying south of Alicante, where airport connections have long been limited.
⏱️ Timetable overview
During the winter season (1 September – 30 June), the service will operate with:
- 3 daily departures from Alicante Airport
Approximate times: 10:00, 13:00 and 16:30 - 2 daily departures from Almoradí in the early morning, timed for outbound flights
A summer timetable with increased frequency is expected due to higher passenger demand.

🧾 Who operates the service?
The route will be operated by Bus Sigüenza, awarded through an emergency public contract. The initial contract period is 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on usage and regional transport planning.
🌍 Why this matters
Until now, many Vega Baja towns had no direct public transport to Alicante Airport, forcing travelers to rely on taxis or complex bus combinations. This new line:
- Reduces travel costs
- Improves accessibility for non-drivers
- Makes the area more attractive for tourists and long-term residents
- Strengthens regional connectivity south of Alicante
In short: fewer headaches, fewer euros spent on taxis, and a much smoother arrival experience.
✈️ Final word
If you’re flying into Alicante and staying in Rojales, Guardamar, or Almoradí, this new bus line is a game-changer. Simple, direct, and long overdue.
